One of the more muscular and punchy Speyside single malts. Balmenach is often sherry-driven and can be pretty heavy, meaty whisky with a big, dark fruit, earthy backbone to it. The most revered examples tend to come from sherry casks such as the great Sestante 14 year old and the 1976 G&M Kirsch Import. However, there have been numerous un-sherried examples over the years from multiple bottlers that show off the distillate in a more natural light. Always a flavoursome and satisfying whisky that is unlikely to disappoint if you're looking for something fun, interesting and little different.
